Andrea Izzy Anthony (SARAH)
Andrea Izzy Anthony is a SAG-AFTRA actor, director, writer, and voice artist based North Carolina and NYC. Most recently she produced and narrated the audiobook The Ghostwriter by Alessandra Torre, available on Amazon and iTunes. Izzy produced, co-directed and co-wrote, The Cabin, a post-apocalyptic short film. She has directed for Ruddy Productions’ developmental readings and New Works Festival.
Acting highlights include: Bruce (Lighthearted Films), Laura Gets a Cat (Michael Ferrell), The Cabin (goto|anthony), HazelYum (Zeitgeber Productions), Men’s Monthly (Ruddy Productions), and Henry V (The Gallery Players. Training includes: Maggie Flanigan Studio - Meisner Two Year Conservatory, BFA from UNC Greensboro, Labyrinth, UCB and Kimball Studios. Izzy enjoys photography and painting, and when not making art or working as a project analyst is often following her favorite musicians on the concert circuit.
Emily Emerson (MARY)
Emily Emerson- National Tour: If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and Other Storybooks; Regional: A Bright New Boise; Gruesome Playground Injuries; Souvenir (Paper Lantern Theatre Company); Reverse Psychology; Picnic; Bloody Blackbeard (Triad Stage); Evil Dead: The Musical (Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte); Much Ado About Nothing (NC Shakes). Her play, The Field, received its world premiere off-Broadway in the summer of 2018. Emily is a professor of theatre at High Point University and Elon University, and she is a member of Actors’ Equity Association, VASTA, and the Dramatists Guild. Lalenja Harrington (FRAN)
Lalenja Harrington is thrilled to join Paper Lantern for another meaningful production about things that matter. She is a self-described poet/performer and full-time educator with a recent PhD from UNCG, who is dedicated to exploring the intersection of performance, activism and education. Previous productions include Keep a Song in your Soul(Old town school of Music-Chicago), Born Bad (Paper Lantern), Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill (WSTA, Twin City Stage), Children of Eden/A Time to Kill (Twin City Stage) and RENT(WSTA).
Iyanna Huffington (DEMBE)
Iyanna Huffington. Junior double major of History and B.A theatre with a minor in ASL at UNC Greensboro. Assistant Director credits include: Tourist Trap (Peppercorn Childen’s Theatre), Lost & Found (Peppercorn), Antigone, and Getting Out. Dramaturge credits include: Clybourne Park and We Are Proud to Present... (by Jackie Sibblies). I am a native of Scranton, PA and Newark, NJ; I have lived in NC for 13 years. I celebrate my European, African, and Native American ancestry with pride and my heritage drives who I am.
Ebony Humes (MIRANDA)
Ebony Humes, who plays the role of Miranda, is extremely honored to be a part of the original piece, 'Dembe'. Ebony is from Las Vegas, NV and has come to NC pursue her BFA degree in Professional Theatre at North Carolina A&T State University. After she graduates, which will be in December of 2018, Ebony plans to continue to work in the vast world of theatre and eventually own her own theatre organization. Ebony would like to thank God, her family and friends for their love and support.
Diatra Langford (JELANI)
Diatra Langford is a native of Rich Square, NC. She is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University where she earned her BFA in Professional Theatre. Some of her credits include: Eclipsed (Maima), Once on This Island (Erzulie), Crowns (Wanda), For Colored Girls..... (Lady in Purple) just to name a few. She's excited about being back on stage for the second time this year!
Skip Lawing (RICHARD)
Skip is a native of Winston-Salem where he attended UNCSA & UNCG. He moved to New York City to continue his career and has appeared on and off Broadway, National Tours and Daytime soaps.
Skip heard the "call" and worked for 20 years with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. He recently retired and relocated back to Winston Salem with his partner of 35 years, Tony Garcia. Skip is
honored & privileged to be a part of the DEMBE workshop.
Jasmine Pearson (CARRIE)
Jasmine Pearson is delighted to be making her debut with the workshop production of DEMBE through the role of Carrie. She has previously been part of other productions, including Sister Act: The Musical! as part of the ensemble cast. She is 28 years old and has degrees from NCSU and UNCG. During the day, she works in Greensboro as a School Counselor.
Nichelle Wright (JACQUELYN)
Nichelle is thrilled to to join the Cast of DEMBE as Jacqueline. Previous productions include: CATS (Little Theatre of WS); RENT, Toyer, and White Christmas (WS Theatre Alliance); Chicago (GTC); and Godspell (HPCT). Nichelle is a Massage Therapy Instructor at Living Arts Institute in WS and a massage therapist at Massage Envy in High Point. She would like to thank Amy and Elizabeth for allowing her to be a part of this wonderful show.
